Massage Therapist Deep Tissue Portland Oregon

Your Body is Wise

Hi there! I’m Amanda. I am a licensed massage therapist and yoga teacher in Portland, Oregon.

My intention is to help you feel more at home in your body and to reconnect with its innate wisdom and resilience. Whether you're living with chronic pain, navigating stress, or feeling disconnected, massage offers a way to slow down and listen. My work supports the nervous system and addresses the underlying patterns that contribute to pain and tension, encouraging deeper awareness and lasting relief. I hold a grounded, attentive space for you to notice what’s happening beneath the surface—what your body might be asking for or ready to let go of. Each session is intuitive and responsive, aimed at helping you feel more alive, present, and supported in your own skin.

Bodywork sessions are a blend of Eastern and Western techniques including Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Swedish Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, acupressure, gentle stretching and facilitated movement. I work with clients one-on-one for bodywork and private yoga, offer workshops, and teach weekly classes.

Each bodywork session is unique and may include a combination of the following techniques:

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique focused on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It uses slow, deliberate strokes and sustained pressure to target chronic muscle tension and areas of discomfort. This type of massage is especially beneficial for individuals with persistent pain, limited mobility, postural issues, or those recovering from injuries.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a classic, full-body massage designed to relax the entire body and improve circulation. Using long, flowing strokes, gentle kneading, and light to moderate pressure, it helps reduce stress, ease muscle tension, and promote overall well-being. This calming and therapeutic massage is perfect for those new to massage or simply looking to unwind.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release involves applying gentle, sustained pressure to slowly stretch and release the fascia of the musculoskeletal, visceral, and nervous systems. It targets restrictions in the fascia to improve misalignment, reduce pain, and restore movement.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle technique that helps release tension in the body by working with the craniosacral system—the membranes and fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Using light touch, it encourages the body’s natural healing processes and promotes deep relaxation. This therapy is especially effective in calming the nervous system, reducing stress, and supporting relief from pain and physical tension.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves gentle scraping of the skin using a smooth tool to release muscle tension and encourage the flow of qi (life force). This therapeutic practice can be a very effective way to help reduce inflammation and relieve pain by encouraging the body’s own healing processes.

Cupping

Cupping therapy uses suction to gently lift the skin and underlying tissues and can be integrated into massage, offering deeper release of muscular tension. Cups are used to reduce pain or tension, increase blood flow, and increase range of motion.
